What's the Best Time to Visit Santa Fe?
There's no single best month to visit Santa Fe; each month has its own charm and draw. Spring warms up quietly, with blooming gardens and open galleries before the rush. Summer becomes Santa Fe's busiest season, filled with opera nights and market weekends.
Fall cools the air while festival season keeps going, just with smaller crowds than summer's peak. Winter slows everything down, with firelit rooms and holiday lights along Canyon Road. Every season shapes a different kind of trip, and the breakdown below will help you pick yours.
Spring in Santa Fe (March – May)
Spring warms up slowly in Santa Fe, and we especially love the first morning our gardens bloom again. Guests often wander out before brunch just to see it, and the town settles into a quieter rhythm before summer arrives.
Weather in Spring
March starts cool, with highs in the mid-50s and nights near freezing. By May, afternoons warm into the low 70s, though nights still call for a jacket. Rain stays light all season.
What to Do in Spring
Spring is the season to walk Santa Fe slowly, before summer's crowds arrive. Our gardens bloom in March, and guests start their mornings there over our gourmet brunch. Canyon Road's galleries stay quiet enough in April for real conversations with the artists. Late May brings the Santa Fe Century Ride and the Memorial Day Arts & Crafts Show.

Summer in Santa Fe (June – August)
Summer turns Santa Fe golden, and we especially enjoy watching guests linger on our terrace over a slow morning coffee. Warm nights and a packed calendar of markets and music keep the whole town outdoors.
Weather in Summer
Highs sit in the low-to-mid 80s from June through August, while nights cool into the 50s. Afternoon storms roll through in July and August, then clear fast, leaving the evening air fresh.
What to Do in Summer
Catch the Santa Fe Opera under the open sky just outside town. Rodeo de Santa Fe kicks off in June, and the International Folk Art Market and Traditional Spanish Market fill July's weekends. August closes strong with the Santa Fe Indian Market, one of the city's largest annual events.
Fall in Santa Fe (September – November)
Fall arrives in Santa Fe with chile ristras hanging from doorways. Roadside stands roast green chile by the sackful, one of the surest signs summer has passed. We move mornings indoors to our communal table once the terrace closes for the season.
Weather in Fall
September stays warm, with highs in the high 70s and cooler nights. October turns crisp fast, with highs near the mid-60s. By November, afternoons settle into the low 50s under clear skies.
What to Do in Fall
Santa Fe fall events start early, with Fiestas de Santa Fe and the Santa Fe Renaissance Faire filling September's calendar. Aspens turn gold in the foothills above town by early October, an easy day trip from the inn. Many guests time their stay around Albuquerque's Balloon Fiesta each October, just an hour south of us.

Winter in Santa Fe (December – February)
Winter gives our fireplace rooms their finest purpose. Snow settling over the garden paths turns even a quiet morning into a reason to step outside. Our gardens hold a different beauty this season, dressed in white rather than green.
Weather in Winter
December brings highs in the low 40s, with nights falling into the upper teens. January holds steady, cold and clear. By February, afternoons soften into the upper 40s.
What to Do in Winter
The Canyon Road Farolito Walk lights the street with candlelight every Christmas Eve. Christmas at the Palace and the Winter Spanish Market fill the weeks leading up to the holiday. Ski Santa Fe remains active throughout the season, only a short drive from the inn. The holidays bring out a side of Santa Fe unlike any other time of year, quiet and candlelit.
